Operating assistance for the doublenotch - double- peak-  and Superpeak - AF-filter         ED 88 NF

The filter ED 88 NF is an active audiofilter with very high selection and different  adjustment possibilities. The high value, which leaves itself large assistance and necessity of the filter in its entirety to only detect also here if one made oneself familiar with the method of operation in the different frequency ranges such as HF, VHF etc. in connection with the different operating modes such as SSB, AM, for CW, FM, SSTV, FAX, RTTY or the like.

Filterconnection:
The cable (1-wire with screen) " RX 1 " can be wired with that 3.5 mm or 6.3 mm of jackplugs and connects then the AF-filter with the jack headset-phone or " extern speaker " -socket at the receiver or transceiver. The Chinch female connector   " RX 2 " at the filter can do 2 with that. RX / receiver (extern.Lsp socket) to be connected. These filters - inputs become at the front plate of the  AF-filter with that small   toggle switch   RX1 / RX2 " switched (  an audio filter for  2 receiver / transceiver.)

The inserted jack headset-phone at the front plate is wired for mono headhone. When connecting headphone like used the loudspeaker output at the audiofilter one switches off. The recorder is attached by means of 5 or 3-pin of " copying cable " to the 5-pin socket " recorder / computer " (pin 1 = AF and 2 = ground).

Line-up:
After now the necessary plugs are attached after attached drawing with the pertinent cable connected and the current supply DC powersupply or 230 V/AC, the filter can be put into operation. Shows the toggle switch "Ein" to the left, is the filter without operating voltage and the AF /Audio way is connected through directly over the inserted relay on the module to the loudspeaker or headphone. In order to suppress noises with high frequency feedbacks or irradiations when transmitting completely, the PTT socket at the filter rear wall becomes simply 1-wire (ground not to attach) parallel to the PTT- or " transmits " -link (e.g. ACC socket) of the sender switched (PTT - against ground / minus). When transmitting with the help of a transistor or a relay contact on the filter module the function toggle switches "Ein" is then taken over.

" Notch   2 x ",   for Telefonie,     like   e.g.   SSB, FM, AM

These adjustments show themselves easily with the help of one beforehand by the receiver of stopped steady tone e.g. from a loud AM broadcasting station in the operating mode CW/SSB. The filter is put with the toggle switch in position   Ein/ON into operation. TheŽleft LED lights up. The " Breiten" - controller is in the center (" 12 o'clock "). the switch is on position "Peak 2x ". With the two controllers " Ton 1 and Ton 2  " slowly the received tone is then adjusted to max. volume at the AF-filter. Also the 2  becomes. LED more brightly. By shifting (revers) the switch back into the position " Notch 2 x " is no longer audible the disturbing tone. If the filter is switched off now, the disturbing steady tone in the normal volume is to be heard. The 2nd disturbing tone can be out-sucked or notcht also in the switching position " Notch   2 x " with the controller " Ton1 or Ton2 " additionally. The notchdeept still increases, if the "Breiten" - controller is turned to the left. Note: Toneadjustment always slowly adjust.
" CW ",   for telegrafie, like CW or similarly. At the receiver the desired CW-station is stopped. Toggle switch at the filter is on "Ein". The left LED lights up. The rotary switch on " CW " (superpeak) and the width/Breiten-controller on " 12 o'clock " (" 4k " = 4 kHz / 0,1 = 100 Hz) place. With the two tonecontrol 1 and 2 now the desired CW-tone on max. volume and brightness become to the 2. LED regulated. The adjusting volume should become consciously  with the  AF/Audio controller at the receiver again balanced. By switching the filter on and off the large advantage or the large filter effect of the GD 86 NF  is easy to detect.

" Peak 2 x ", for RTTY, FAX, SSTV   or similarly

With RTTY, FAX, SSTV etc. (2-tone) the tonecontroller are set in each case to the appropriate audio frequencies (Mark and space). The bandwidth controller should not be on " 0,1 ", narrowly .telefonie can be received naturally also in the switching position " CW " or " peak 2 x ". In these postions can the bandwidth to approx. 300 cycles per second reduced  and the desired  tonerange of the modulation of the received station from the QRM or noise  (peak) become raised.By the frequent use in all operating modes leave themselves very easy and fast, with consideration of the expenditure and the technical possibilities, which detect use and the  unusual advantages of the GD86NF/ AF-filter. The filter becomes indispensable and makes a hearing again easier and more interesting.
Definition of the terms   " Notch " and " peak "
The diagonal / dotted / represent the different tones to cross-hatched lines.
That pass band lets the audio frequency mixture through between 100 Hz and
5000  Hz. The hatched area is led without filter effect to headphones or  loudspeakers. The cross-hatched area " is notcht ", i.e. all frequencies or tones within
